Responsible Tourism

As a part of our Sustainable Journey Erlingsson Naturreisen did participate in Aukum forskotið (let’s increase the lead) in 2022.

Let’s increase the lead is an educational project under the umbrella of Responsible Tourism.  In the programm participants have the opportunity to connect the SDG sustainability goals into their operations as well as get the raw material to submit a sustainability strategy for their company at the end of the year.

One oft the inspiring lectures was about  Nordic Regenerative Tourism – NorReg is a Nordic project, aimed at developing and providing relevant, interesting, and accessible tools for small and micro-sized tourism operators in destinations in the Nordic countries. As a micro sized company we relate to this in it gives us the felling that our actions do matter. The focus in NorReg is on the local community and nature. One inspiring Partner in the Program was Midgard Adventure they where nominated one of the top 3 companies for the INCENTIVE AWARDS FOR RESPONSIBLE TOURISM in 2022. They f.e. support the local community with providing jobs in the country side and they emphasize that employees have there adress in their town and assist them with finding housing etc. so the taxes go to to the local community.

Today’s requirements for the visibility and responsibility of companies are increasing rapidly, and both individuals and large suppliers make increased demands that the companies they do business with show in a truthful way how they pursue sustainability in their operations, what their policy is in environmental matters and how their social responsibility they are made.

The main benefits of participating in the educational project are:

  • Increased knowledge of all the main concepts of sustainability.
  • Training in choosing and rejecting goals and opportunities to implement the right ones for your business.
  • Training in setting out a sustainability strategy for your company and advice on what metrics can be used to measure success.
  • Increased networking with others in the tourism industry who are working on implementing sustainability.
  • Improved operations with increased visibility.
  • Increased ability to visibly present the company’s journey towards sustainability.
